Lucinda Green
Read all about what legendary eventer Lucinda Green has been up to this month.
Then my travels began again, with Germany first for a clinic, lectures and a ball. It was interesting how the riders there were quite thrown by the angles and imperfect distances I use to teach the horses to think and riders to feel. Some of the fences were only 18ins high but the lines were enough to engender plenty of slip-bys and even to unseat one (good) rider, but it will have been a good lesson learnt. My main message in the lectures was that cross-country must be the major influence in eventing – it’s the heart of the sport. If we wanted to compete in dressage or showjumping, we could do so on their own.
I then managed to squeeze in a few days skiing with my son before coming home to prepare for my longest ever tour – a month. I’ll be working my way across the US, New Zealand and Australia, with three days at home before heading to Austria, to catch up with the eventing team, before beginning the Petplan clinics in the UK. Fortunately I love what I do and I’m looking forward to seeing what I will learn along the way - but I’ll miss my family, mates, horse and dog.
