Allianz Insurance plc - Animal Health Division
Petplan Equine is a brand of the Animal Health Division of Allianz Insurance plc.
The Animal Health Division is the world's largest animal health insurer with a turnover of £140m in 2004. The division insures in excess of 750,000 animals and receives over 1500 claims per day, paying out over £1 million each week.
Allianz Insurance plc markets and underwrites a number of leading pet insurance brands including Petplan, Petplan Equine and DBI.

Company History
Cornhill Insurance, now established as Allianz Insurance plc, was founded in 1905 as a fire insurer and in the 1920s it became a leading motor insurer. Over the years the Company has expanded and now writes many classes of insurance from engineering to pet insurance. Allianz Insurance plc is one of the largest general insurers in the UK.
From a total of 16 staff in 1924, Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc now employs over 3,800 people nationwide. The Head Office at 57 Ladymead in Guildford is the base for the Chief Executive, Actuarial & Planning and the Company's Investment Department. This main operating site is where most of the management, administration, finance and information technology services are situated. There is a network of branches throughout the country, as well as divisional centres in London, Tunbridge Wells, Bristol and Liphook.
In 1986 Cornhill Insurance plc was bought by Allianz AG of Germany, one of the largest insurers in the world.
On 3 November 2000 Allianz was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. This expands the Group's flexibility for financing future acquisitions and enables it to strengthen its market position with new investors and strategic partnerships.
On 13 January 2003 Cornhill Insurance plc was officially renamed Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc and on 30 April 2007 Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc became Allianz Insurance plc.
